Your child sits in class at 9am and doesn’t quite get enzyme specificity. The teacher has twenty-nine other students and has to move on. At 4pm they come home, and Orimentis picks up exactly where the lesson left them: at their level, their pace, against the same AQA, Edexcel or OCR spec point the teacher was working to.

The line we hold: you’ll get the shape of how they’re learning (where it’s clicking, where they’re wrestling, what’s improving) and how to help. You don’t get to read the conversation, and you don’t see the photos of schoolwork they send the tutor either. A teenager who’s worried about being watched won’t ask the “silly” question that unlocks a whole topic. Keeping that space private is what lets them be honest, so the progress is yours to share in, and the conversation stays theirs.
Three ways to help at home
Ask them to explain it back
The surest test of real understanding is whether they can teach it to you. Ask them to walk you through what they worked on, and let them do the talking. If it’s solid, it comes out clearly.
Let the struggle sit
When they’re stuck, resist the urge to step in with the answer. Wrestling with a hard problem is where the learning actually happens. A little discomfort is the work, not a sign it’s going wrong.
Ask what clicked, not what they scored
Swap “did you finish your homework?” for “what finally made sense this week?” It keeps the conversation about understanding: the thing that lasts long after the grade is forgotten.

If your child already has a tutor, we’re what happens between sessions: tonight’s homework, the lesson that didn’t land, the subject the tutor doesn’t cover.
